Student exchange grant

This bursary is intended to support students (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral students) who are interested in spending four to six weeks at a partner institution for the purpose of an academic research internship. Twenty-five student exchange grants are available per year.

Award: 1,500 € for 4-6 weeks, 1,250 € awarded immediately, 250 € after final report submission

Requirements

  • Confirmation of enrollment at the applicant’s home university
  • CV
  • Letter/statement from a supervisor at the home university supporting the internship
  • Letter/statement from a supervisor accepting the student at the host institute/ group
  • Short report (1-2 pages) following return to the home institution

PostDoc exchange grant

This travel grant is intended for postgraduate researchers who wish to spend two to four weeks at a partner institution for the purpose of conducting research (e.g. learning new techniques, establishing collaborations). Seven exchange grants for postgraduate researchers are available per year.

Award: 2,000 € for 2-6 weeks, 1,750 € awarded immediately, 250 € after final report submission

Requirements

  • Letter/statement from a supervisor at the home university supporting the internship
  • Letter/statement from a supervisor accepting the researcher at the host institute/group
  • Short cover letter describing the work plan and motivation for visit (1-2 pages)
  • Short report (1-2 pages) after return to home institution

Travel grant for conferences and networks

This fellowship is intended for postgraduate researchers and doctoral students who are interested in visiting a conference or establishing a scientific network/collaboration at a partner institution. Ten travel grants are available per year.

Award: 750 €

Requirements

  • Invitation letter from a host supervisor (e.g. Email)
  • CV and publication list
  • Short cover letter stating motivation for the visit, the relevance for the applicant’s academic career and a brief financial plan

Collaboration kick-off grant

This grant is intended to provide seed funding for the establishment of a bilateral collaboration with the purpose of writing a collaborative research grant (EU programs, DFG, VolkswagenStiftung, etc.) The funding should be divided in a balanced manner between the Lower Saxony and Israeli partners, and can be used for mutual visits, as well as for performing preliminary studies/experiments. Four kick-off grants are available per year.

 

Award: 5,000 €, 4,000 € awarded immediately, 1,000 € after submission of the joint proposal

Requirements

  • Project description including work plan and financial plan (max. 4-5 pages)
  • CVs and publication lists from both partners, up to 10 selected publications
  • Copy of the submitted joint project proposal one year after grant award

We have kept the application process intentionally straightforward and simple. We do not use standardized application forms; applicants are asked to submit pdf documents, including your host’s invitation or a short description of the planned research work (see Grant requirements).
