Student exchange grant

  • WHY: Research internship
  • WHO: Students (undergraduate, graduate, PhDs)
  • WHAT: 1600 € for 4-6 weeks, 1350 € awarded immediately, 250 € after final report submission

Requirements

  • Confirmation of enrollment at the applicant’s home university
  • CV
  • Letter/statement from a supervisor at the home university supporting the internship
  • Letter/statement from a supervisor accepting the student at the host institute/ group
  • Short report (1-2 pages) following return to the home institution

PostDoc exchange grant

  • WHY: Learning new techniques/establishing collaborations
  • WHO: PostDocs
  • WHAT: 2150 € for 2-6 weeks, 1,900 € awarded immediately, 250 € after final report submission

Requirements

  • Letter/statement from a supervisor at the home university supporting the internship
  • Letter/statement from a supervisor accepting the researcher at the host institute/group
  • Short cover letter describing the work plan and motivation for visit (1-2 pages)
  • Short report (1-2 pages) after returning to home institution

Travel grant for conferences and networks

  • WHY: Visiting a conference/establishing collaborations
  • WHO: Doctoral students and PostDocs
  • WHAT: 800 €

Requirements

  • Invitation letter from a host supervisor (e.g. Email)
  • CV and publication list
  • Short cover letter stating motivation for the visit, the relevance for the applicant’s academic career and a brief financial plan
  • Short report (1-2 pages) after returning to home institution

Collaboration kick-off grant

  • WHY: Seed-funding for bilateral collaborations
  • WHO: Junior researchers, maximum 6 years after completion of doctorate (can be extended for periods of parental or maternity leave)
  • WHAT: 5200 €, 4200 € awarded immediately, 1000 € after submission of the joint proposal

Requirements

  • Project description including work plan and financial plan (max. 4-5 pages)
  • CVs and publication list from both partners, up to 10 selected publications
  • Copy of the submitted joint project proposal one year after grant award

We have kept the application process intentionally straightforward and simple. We do not use standardized application forms; applicants are asked to submit pdf documents, including your host’s invitation or a short description of the planned research work (see Grant requirements).
